What is a Living Will?

A Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care or Living Will names an agent to make decisions regarding your medical treatment in the event of a prolonged illness. Your agent is not usually an attorney but a loved one.

Why is it necessary?

A Living Will is necessary as you may be incapacitated or suffering in the event of a prolonged illness.  However, your doctor will not want to know what treatment if any to provide you.
